Seminar Held on the "Current Situation of the Wool Supply and Upcoming Tasks"
A meeting on the "Current situation of the wool supply and the upcoming tasks" was held in the administrative building of the Wool Spinning and Dye Factory of the Azerkhalcha Open Joint Stock Company.
Vidadi Muradov, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Joint Stock Company, opened the meeting with the participation of the executive employees of the centers for regional supply of wool and dye plants, wool suppliers, and foreign experts. He added that carpet weaving art has entered a new era with the care of President Ilham Aliyev. The modern Azerbaijani state has restored the historical tradition and returned the glory of handmade carpets with national patterns, and transformed them into an international brand. The work done in this direction is successfully continued. In accordance with the instructions of the President, Azerkhalcha Open Joint Stock Company has also taken the necessary steps to provide raw materials for carpet producing enterprises in our country. The construction of the Wool Spinning and Dye Factory, the foundation of which was laid on December 15, 2017, at the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park with the participation of the head of the country, has already been completed. The factory is expected to be put into operation in March 2020. The plant will process 1500 tons of wool annually. The yarn production capacity of the factory is 250 tons a year in a single-shift operation. The yarn produced at the factory will not only meet domestic demands, but will also create export opportunities. Clean wool produced here will be sold as raw material.
The factory will be supplied with raw materials by the regional wool and dye plants supply centers established in Nakhchivan city, Barda, Gobustan, Shabran and Sabirabad districts. Each of the regional centers will receive about 300 tons of wool a year totaling 1500 tons of wool. The price per a kilogram of wool supplied is defined two manats, including VAT. Since May of this year, wool intake is carried out at the supply centers. On September 25, the wool intake is launched at the Wool Spinning and Dye Factory.
Then the director of the Wool Spinning and Dye Factory, Javid Safarov, the heads of regional wool and dye supply centers in Barda, Sabirabad, Shabran, Gobustan - Rizvan Mammadov, Aday Baharchinov, Alihuseyn Shirinov, and Aziz Azizov spoke and gave information about the issue in discussion.
It was informed that 213 tons of wool have been delivered to the regional centers so far. A total of 26 tons of wool were delivered to the Wool Spinning and Dye Factory from Gobustan and Barda regional centers. Wool supply and wool sorting in centers are still in progress.
Summing up the seminar, Chairman of the Board Vidadi Muradov said that the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute adopted "Technical Indications of Hand-Woven Carpets of Azerbaijan". For the first time, this normative document contains the standard regarding the moisture loss of the sorted dirty wool. The moisture loss in the total weight after the supplied dirty wool is sorted is 20%. The loss of moisture after the dirty wool received at Azerkhalcha's regional wool and dye plant supply centers is sorted and held there until being transferred to raw material warehouse of the Wool Spinning and Dye Factory is 3%; the loss of moisture after the sorted wool is accepted at the factory and held there until it is processed is 17%. Azerkhalcha implements wool intake to the regional centers and factory in accordance with this indicator.
Talking about future commitments, Vidadi Muradov gave a number of instructions on the tasks ahead. It was noted that the intake of sorted wool from the sources should be strictly controlled, and the return of the defective products to their owners should be ensured. Within two years, the factory should train specialists together with the foreign company responsible for its establishment and maintenance of its operations. Young people should be given preference in this. Regional wool and dye plant centers should strictly adhere to the standards set for wool intake, and give priority to quality but not quantity. The training of the staff should also be considered in the regional centers, and young people should be identified for the courses to be organized for this purpose as soon as possible.
Suppliers should accelerate the supply of wool and pay close attention to the production of wool suitable for yarn production.
The speakers talked about the shortcomings of the work and warned the regional heads of regional centers in Barda, Sabirabad and Shabran districts.
Vidadi Muradov wished the participants of the seminar success in their future work.
At the end of the seminar, participants observed the wool intake process at the factory.
