Bulgarian Guests Admired by Azerbaijani Carpets
A delegation led by Christo Iliev Bondjolov, the Rector of the St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo of Bulgaria, who is visiting Azerbaijan paid a visit to the Absheron branch of Azerkhalcha Open Joint-Stock Company.
Director of the branch, Rafiga Bashirova, informed the guests about the work of the carpet production workshop and the carpets woven here. She noted that the Absheron branch of "Azerkhalcha" Open Joint Stock Company was launched in December last year. Currently, the branch employs over 70 weavers.
It was emphasized that the Baku group Azerbaijani carpets are given priority here. About 500 square meters of carpets were woven at the branch during its operation.
Visitors interested in the designs of the carpets woven in the workshop were informed that the development of electronic versions of carpet designs is being implemented for the first time in Azerbaijan among the world's carpet manufacturers. The electronic designs made by carpet master artists of the society are cataloged into groups of Baku, Karabakh, Nakhchivan, İravan, Tabriz, Shirvan, Guba, Ganja, and Gazakh-Borchali. Preference is given to making designs based on unique Azerbaijani carpets and carpet products kept in the world museums and private collections. Each design is a primary source of information about carpets. The design paper provides information on the carpet's size, density, number of weft and warp threads, as well as the colors to be used.
Then Christo Iliev Bondjolov, the rector of Veliko Tarnovo University, cut the finished carpet off the loom at the workshop.
The guests expressed their admiration for the carpets woven here and were interested in their quality and price.
