The first national conference dedicated to the "Day of Carpet Weavers" professional holiday

On May 5, 2017, the first national conference dedicated to the "Day of Carpet Weavers" professional holiday was held by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the "Azerkhalcha" Open Joint-Stock Company.

The conference participants paid a visit to the graves of our national leader Heydar Aliyev and Academician Zarifa Aliyeva in the Fakhri Khiyaban.


Later, the participants and guests of the conference "Azerkhalcha" OJSC got acquainted with the exhibition reflecting the work of the company. In addition to the new woven carpets made on the basis of ancient national patterns in different sizes, photo-stands reflecting the work of the Company's Fuzuli branch, educational and training courses organized in the districts, international relations, and the construction work were also exhibited.

Siyazi Safarov, Deputy Minister of Economy Conference, who opened the "Day of Carpet Weavers" professional holiday, noted that this holiday was officially celebrated for the first time and emphasized that it was another example of attention given to the carpet weaving field by the Azerbaijan government. He also gave the conference participants information about the work done in this field in the past years in our country. 



According to the decree (dated May 1, 2017) of President Ilham Aliyev, 27 carpet weavers were awarded orders and medals for their efficient work in the development of Azerbaijan carpet weaving art. "Azerkhalcha" OJSC Board Chairman Vidadi Muradov delivered an extensive report on the annual production of the company, the construction of the branch buildings in the districts, the training of professional carpet weavers, work done in the field of promoting “Azerbaijani Brand” in the world carpet weaving, the formation and enrichment of online carpet design database, work carried out in the direction of establishing spinner-dye factory, and other perspectives.  


In addition to Baku city, carpet weavers from Shusha, Agdam, Barda, Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Ismayilli, Lankaran, Lerik, Kazakh and so on districts expressed their gratitude for the attention and care given to the carpet weaving art and its representatives by the Azerbaijani government. They expressed confidence that carpet weaving will turn into one of the large-scale and the most profitable areas of Azerbaijan’s economy as a result of a deliberate policy pursued by our government in this field.

At the end of the event some of the "Azerkhalcha" OJSC employees were awarded honorary diplomas.
